Angela Yuen Uyeda began her dance training in ballet, studying at schools in San Francisco, Arizona and Hong Kong. She now loves teaching 400 students per year! A native of San Francisco, she enjoys sharing the joy of dance through dance instruction and performance. Angela has taught boys, girls, teens, and adults at studios and schools throughout the city. Currently, she is ballet instructor to adults and children at Geary Dance Center, Nagata Dance Studio, Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, and Marina Classical Ballet in San Francisco. She also brings performance-based Creative Movement classes to about ten public and private schools each season.
In addition to her love of Classical Ballet and Creative Movement, Angela also performs Chinese and Contemporary Dance. She danced with Peony Performing Arts from 2004 to 2008 under the direction of Sabrina and Xiaomu Hou. Angela was selected as a guest artist with the Chinese Historical Society’s A Caruso Memory and World Arts West’s People Like Me tour. Angela joined Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company in 2008, and continues to perform contemporary and traditional works in national tours. From the beauty and discipline of Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance to the visual textures of Chinese Dance, Angela is inspired by the power of movement and music.
